Off Grid Home in the Brecon Beacons
The Challenge
Life in the Brecon Beacons can be an absolute dream filled with gorgeous views and quiet towns however, there can be some challenges to overcome when living in such a remote location.
Our client Tim lives in remote cottage located in the Brecon Beacons and required a robust and reliable inverter-charger to be the heart of his power back-up system. This was to ensure that the essential power needs such as heating, lighting and satellite broadband remained functional during snowstorms and fierce winds experienced in the forested valley. These storms could cause up to 3 or 4 power outages every winter with some even lasting for up to 24hrs.
Our Solution
Tim already had 2 lead-acid batteries he was keen to utilise which influenced the type of solution we could offer him, once we knew this the perfect solution was in our sights. We specified an Energier Pro 3000VA 24v as this could utilise his batteries with maximum energy efficiency, whilst also being powerful enough to run all the essential loads and domestic creature comforts for him and his family.
In the event of a power cut, the Energier would automatically switch its power input and draw from the batteries rather than the mains. This results in a seamless transition from mains to DC power whenever there is an outage and switches back to keeping the batteries charged whenever his mains supply is available.
After using the system for the last two years we reached out to Tim to ensure the application was still working well for him and this was his response;

With a back-up system in place, all his loads can continue to remain fully functional even during a storm and this gives Tim and his family peace of mind, all year round.
